After 7 races, the finale of the Golden Trail World Series is here. This is everything you need to know:
What: Muju Trail Grand Finale, the last race of the 2026 Golden Trail World Series and the series’ first race in South Korea. It’s in Deogyusan National Park and the third straight series race in Asia.
When: The women race Saturday, Oct. 24, at 1 p.m. KST, which is midnight Eastern time on Friday night. The men race at the same time the next day.
The course: About 28 km (about 17 miles) with 2,300-2,400 meters elevation gain (7,600 ft). Near its high point is Baengnyeonsa, a 1,000-year-old Buddhist temple. The course may be the most technical of the season.
The stakes: Besides winning for its own sake, of course, the overall winners receive €30,000 (~$33,700) and there’s a season prize pool worth €435,000 (~$488,600) divided among the athletes.
The runners: On the women’s side, Mădălina Florea of Romania has a big lead of 66 points. Caroline Kimutai of Kenya, Ruth Gitonga of Kenya, Barbora Bukovjan of Czech Republic, and Hanna Gröber of Germany all have a chance according to an Uphill Notes analysis. Florea needs a top 5 finish to win the overall series title.
The men’s race is very tight. Philemon Kiriago of Kenya leads and wins the title with a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finish. His teammate Patrick Kipngeno is second, and two-time defending champion Elhousine Elazzaoui of Morocco is third. Only 46 points separate the three.
Where to watch: You can check their “Where to watch” page for local options but the race is available on HBO Max and FloSports for most viewers.
