What do we have for you this week?

A new type of RunHome content

This week we’re introducing, Running explained and Fun running, content we think runners appreciate that may have been previously difficult to find. Running explained is like our article from last time about what makes super shoes work. Fun running is content a bit removed from traditional running news. Scroll down, and you’ll see what we mean. We hope you enjoy it.

RUNNING EXPLAINED ROAD TRACK TRAIL

One ranking for every runner

We have an ambitious goal: create one set of rankings rating runners at the top of the sport for track, road, and trail, accounting for differences in terrain. For the first time, men and women will be compared together in one overall ranking, again accounting for variables such as how records between men and women differ at each distance. And we want to take you behind the scenes as it’s created.

TRACK

What’s happening across D1 cross country so far?

If you’re good at one, you’re good at both: 6 schools are top 10 in both men’s and women’s xc in the latest coaches’ poll. Plus, Jane Hedengren of BYU, one of the favorites to win the championship meet, gets beat by two runners from the same team.

FUN RUNNING

Your perfect running playlist

Dillon knew an uncanny number of songs with “run” in the title, so he made a playlist that absolutely screams running for your benefit. Hope you enjoy.

ROAD TRACK TRAIL

Most recent in running

Teammates Philemon Ombogo Kiriago and Patrick Kipnegeno lead the Golden Trail World Series, after racing the Jinshanling Great Wall Trail Race on the Great Wall of China. On the women’s side, Madalina Florea of Romania has a big lead.

World Athletics launched a video and results app.

World Athletics completed the first Ultimate Championship last month, a championship-like event for every 4th year when there is neither Olympics nor World Championships.

Already owning the women’s-only race marathon WR, Tigst Assefa was on pace to set the mixed-gender women’s WR at the Berlin marathon last month, when she began limping with just over a mile left. It was later announced that she had undergone surgery to repair the complete achilles rupture she suffered in that race. She apparently ran the last mile with an achilles tear and still won the race.

USATF Road 10km Championships had both races won by Utah-based runners, Emily Venters and Aidan Troutner. Each set championship race records.
